I have never been to Mongolia, neither do I personally know anyone who has been there. I am sure it must be a beautiful country especially for its citizens.

Fact of the matter is Turkish people have been in these lands for so many centuries and ruled these lands for a thousand years or more, and these numbers are sure not small. The Turkish ancestors you are talking about went from east of a lake (Caspian) to the west of it. The distance traveled is not as much as you think it is.

Well the turks do belong in turkey, you see what you are refering to are the turkic migrations.
Basically before these migrations there were a collection of different peoples in turkey.
The turkic peoples from near mongolia came and took over turkey and imposed a lot of their culture, including language on the locals. However the turkic invaders were small in number.
what happened was that the native people of turkey adopted aspects of turkish culture and combined it with their culture, creating the turkish people and culture.

so to answer your question, most turks are actually native to turkey, only a few in the former ruling elites came from the area around mongolia.
