the lady emailed me to show me they are at a nice home now. also tell them you'd like to care for them, it can be arranged!!

I think you should go ahead and call the SPCA. If the horses are able to get well again, they will probably be put up for adoption, then you can tell them you want them.

Call the humane society and they will investigate, they will be able to find out of the horses are just old and skinney or if they are malnurated. It doesnt hurt to ask and find that they're ok, rather than not ask and wonder if they're ok. Perhaps you can start by going to the owner's house asking them about their horses saying that you feel the horses need a grooming and if its ok with them you would like to groom them. Ask them if they're having trouble feeding them due to finacial failure, offer to help them care for the horses, if you find the owner is just mean and abusing them, then you definatly should call the humane society.

Call the local humane society, or if you have animal control in your town call them. They will come out for sure. Hope this helps.

in your phone book there is a section called the government pages you will fine the number for animal abuse it is usely a toll free number or call the local police station or the state police station which ever is the closes to you

well if ya got experiance in the horse biz then you know if they are neglected

I would call the ASPCA in your area and just ask to be anonymous. Let them know you are concerned, you are a knowledgeable horse person, and that you have your own barn. Don't say anything about wanting to take them yourself yet because they might think you just want the horses. I have called before about a large barn in my area but nothing was done. I can at least say I tried though which makes me feel better then doing nothing.

If you see no hay around, thats a reason to call. If there is even one bale, they will not repo the horses.

You really need to make sure these aren't aged horses. Ask neighbors and see if they know the history on them.

Call the dept of AG their investigators actually look at the facts unlike the knee jerk feel gooders at SPCA that are looking for video clips for their animal planet TV show.
Horses whether you like it or not are livestock not pets atleast in most states and are governed by the dept of AG.
Keep in mind annonymous calls dont hold much credibility and if your going to accuse someone of something have the balls to stand behind it dont be another coward in America

I would call the humane society, because even if they are ok health-wise, they might be able to do something about the barbed wire fencing, as it is a horribly dangerous fence for horses. I don't know about grants or funding, but you might be able to help by providing a foster home. If they don't have space (or even if they do) I know they sometimes look for volunteers to help out.

call the local humane society or shelter. they will come and take the horses and press charges on the abusers.

try finding out who owns the horses go to a solicter or estate engant and find out who's name the deeds are in or try the rspca or blue cross

If you don't see ANY food, such as hay or grain, around and they have no water, then call the humane society. They will tell you what the procedure is. Sometimes things are not what they seem, eiither. Try not to just take things into your own hands as this could get you arrestd and/or sued. You do need to work through the local authorities. You can tell them you'd be willing to adopt or foster should they be seized, but there are ordinances about this also and it may not be possible. If they accept you as a foster, you may be the one footing the bill or the might have funding for this. Usually not as the budgets are pretty tight these days. You could see what your local laws are about fundraising in your area should you be allowed to care for these horses, should they be surrendered. Please don't get your hopes up. Proving neglect is difficult and can be a lengthy process. And as I said, things are not always what they appear to be. The benefit of the doubt should be applied.

you could find the owners and say "oh those horses are just the type i have been looking for, are they for sale", and offer them a good price, if they cant afford to keep them they may sell them to you

If you call in the SPCA or someone, then you run the risk of the animals being taken away for you not to save, or worse, put down due to age, illness or lack of care.

I would just go up to the house and knock. And ask…. I saw you have a few horses and they seem a bit thin. I wanted to offer my services to you as being a horse saver. I take in old, ill, unwanted horses from people. Would you maybe be interested in donating your horses to me? Or something along those lines. Don't offend them, put them down for how they are, but come across as the person who can take this burden and expense off their shoulders, their savior.

Or you could come across as an innocent type….. My horse died a few months ago and as I drove by I noticed your horse looks EXACTLY like my old "name here". I noticed you don't really have the space for the horses. Would you be willing to donate him to me so I can have a horse like I just had?
