HEY! that's the same thing i do to my 1 month old baby!
P.S.
How is a dog 'mans best friend'? it's a dog……weirdos
They also used to cut a slit in their horses necks and drink the blood when they were far out on the endless steppes and needed sustanence…and they also drank the horses milk straight from the teets…
I don't care about "theories"… I care about what is legal and even more importantly, what is moral.
ok there is no such thing as hitting a person or animal for discipline reasons. That is abuse. We dont hit our dogs because dogs are a mans best friend.Would you slap your best friend in the face if she did something wrong.Unlike mongolians we have patience and take our time training our dogs the proper way,Hitting them makes them afraid of you which can be confused with respect and obeying.
Rover fan:how can you say that you only whip your dog when they endanger themselves and deserved it.Maybe you should get whipped for allowing your dogs to put themselves in those situations. They are dogs and we are the ones who are supposed to look after them.If your child does something to endanger himself does he deserve a whippen because the parent was irresponsible NO!!same for a dog
Good question first of all.
I really don't know where to start on how i feel about this. I use positive reinforcement and just basic touch to get my dogs attention and correct bad behavior for the most part. If my dog gets food off the counter or pees in the floor, which they don't, I show the what they did wrong and I might scold them or make them go lay down as punishment.
On one occasion, my dog went running after a stray dog on our property. I yelled for him and he didn't stop. He ran right onto the road. He was so dead set on chasing that dog that he completely ignored me and could have been killed on the road. He got whooped that day. I cried the whole time i done it. I hated having to whoop him but he scared me so bad and i really thought that he was gonna get hurt.
In other words, I believe that it depends on what the dog does that determines what punishment they should get. I by no means abused or beat my dogs. It is very rare for them to get that type of punishment. As a matter of fact, my oldest dog has had 3 whoop ens since I've had him. That is less then 1 a year. The only time I do it is if they endanger themselves or someone else. Other then that if you are bonded with your dog a simple scolded or disappointed voice is enough.
Personally, I don't like the idea of hitting a dog to discipline or train. But, I have caught my dog doing something it shouldn't and scruffed it firmly and given her a good shake to let her know I don't like what she is doing. But, some people treat their dogs like their children and that is a serious mistake. That causes spoiled, ill-mannered dogs that no one wants around.
Different needs different methods. Mongolians have probable used the same tryed and true method for years what was good enough for their ancesters is good enough for them. And their methods work for turning out the kind of animal they want or need. Americans on the other hand want pets, extended family members, compainions. We do not rely on our dogs for survivale they rely on us. So we have tryed to change our training methods so our dogs learn to rely on us. Most people in america perfer the reward training method. Which works great dog does what we want dog gets treat, dog does not do what we want no treat. To bad that not everyone in the world believes in rewarding good behavior instead of punishing bad ( and that goes for some Americans as well as the mongolians). There is an old saying you catch more flys with sugar, then the swatter. And you get a better dog if he \she likes the reward.
If your mean to a dog, the dog will be mean
