If for some reason all of the ice and snow on land melted, right now, the global sea level would rise by — 200 to 250 feet. That's it. Now sure, it sounds like a lot, and it'd suck if you had a summer home on the Hamptons, but that leaves *LOTS* of dry land for civilization to continue moving around and living. I live only 3 miles from the Pacific Ocean, in southern California, and if that rise happened, there would still be 50 feet between my new ocean-front property and the waves.

The December 21, 2012 thing is what we call in scientific terms, "Utter bullsh_t." Please don't buy into it.
