As it happens, the sources on Genghis Khan are a bit ffy, relying a lot on hearsay, if not on actual legendry. One of the main sources, the "Secret History of the Mongols" is as much mythology as history, and was written as such. We hae to live with the fact that we'll never know how much truth we are being told by this or that source.
