It is the capital of Mongolia, with a population of about 960000. It is also the coldest capital, with winter temperatures reaching -30 degrees centigrade. Although it is rapidly modernizing, Soviet-era apartment blocks are numerous, but new ones are constantly going up.
Contrary to popular beleif (like the guy above), small-statured people dont ride ponies. Rather, as in any city, usual people ride usual cars.
Main attractions are, Suhbaatar Square, National Museum of Mongolian History, National Museum of Natural History, etc.
